Welcome to 3Shields School Safety Education
Our Mission and Philosophy
Our nation’s schools should be safe havens for teaching and learning. School violence not only affects the individuals involved but also may disrupt the educational process and affect bystanders, the school itself, and the surrounding community. School violence can result in such undesired events as suicide and homicide. On June 26,2020 the National Sheriffs’ Association, in recognizing the importance of addressing school violence, issued its amended School Safety Resolution including recommended best practices for school violence prevention. The Certified Safe Schools 3Shields School Safety Education Program trains your faculty and staff to implement these recommended best practices and thereby introduce sustainable school violence intervention.
School Safety Matrix
Successfully completing the 3Shields School Safety Education training program means that your school has implemented nationally recommended proactive measures to create and maintain a safe, productive, and healthy learning environment starting at the lowest intervention levels.
Utilizing a three-by-three school safety matrix (three protective shields applied at three assessment levels) this program facilitates replacing known gaps in your school safety with recommended best practices. Integrating these with your existing school security, this program trains your faculty and staff to remedy vulnerabilities below the threat assessment threshold by limiting physical security (response) dependency and introducing sustainable violence intervention.
Choosing to be part of a collaborative effort in preventing school violence renders everyone involved a learning community stakeholder in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment. Participation in this school safety education training program results in faculty and staff who are empowered and prepared to meet the ever-changing demands of a vibrant and thriving learning environment.
The 3Shields School Safety Education training program is conveniently delivered via an industry standard online learning management system (LMS) that can be run 24/7 on common digital platforms such as desk/ laptop computers, iPads and smart phones. Successful program completion results in a certificate of completion issued to all trained faculty and staff which in participating states qualifies for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or per-state equivalent.
